Safety Trainers and Educators are frontline instructors who design and deliver training programs that promote safe work practices, regulatory compliance, and hazard awareness. They translate technical standards into accessible learning experiences, equipping employees with the knowledge and skills to prevent injuries and respond effectively to emergencies.
This role combines instructional design, public speaking, and field expertiseโoften serving as both educator and advisor across diverse work environments.
๐ ๏ธ Responsibilities
- Assess organizational safety training needs and regulatory requirements
- Develop and deliver engaging safety training programs (e.g., OSHA 10/30, PPE, fire safety, ergonomics)
- Conduct classroom sessions, field demonstrations, and virtual workshops
- Create training materials including manuals, videos, handouts, and e-learning modules
- Maintain records of training activities, certifications, and attendance
- Evaluate training effectiveness and adjust programs based on feedback and incident trends
- Collaborate with EHS teams to align training with safety goals and compliance standards
- Stay current with OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, and industry-specific safety regulations
- Participate in safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations
- Promote a culture of safety through coaching, mentorship, and continuous learning
๐ Qualifications
- Bachelorโs degree in Occupational Safety, Education, or related field
- Certifications: OSHA Authorized Trainer (Construction or General Industry), ASP, CSP, CHST, CIT
- 3โ5 years of experience in safety training or EHS roles
- Strong public speaking, instructional design, and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with adult learning principles and training technologies
- Ability to tailor content to diverse audiences and work environments
