🧭 Overview

Construction Safety Managers are responsible for safeguarding workers and ensuring that job sites comply with safety regulations and best practices. They identify hazards, conduct inspections, and implement safety programs that reduce risk and promote a culture of accountability. These professionals serve as both educators and enforcers—training crews, coordinating with project managers, and liaising with regulatory bodies to uphold compliance.

This role demands technical expertise, leadership, and the ability to respond decisively in high-risk environments.

 

🛠️ Responsibilities

• Develop and implement site-specific safety plans and emergency procedures
• Conduct daily safety inspections and audits to ensure regulatory compliance
• Identify hazards such as fall risks, electrical exposure, and toxic substances
• Train workers on safe practices, PPE usage, and incident response protocols
• Maintain OSHA logs, safety certifications, and inspection records
• Investigate accidents and near-misses, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions
• Collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, and government inspectors
• Review blueprints and site plans for safety considerations (e.g., ventilation, evacuation routes)
• Enforce disciplinary actions for non-compliance and unsafe behavior
• Stay current on legal regulations and industry safety initiatives

 

🎓 Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, construction management, or related field
• Certifications: CHST, CSP, OHST, OSHA 30-Hour, First Aid/CPR
• 5–10 years of experience in construction safety or site supervision
• Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work in dynamic, high-pressure environments
