ACI – Associate in Captive Insurance

The Associate in Captive Insurance (ACI) designation is the flagship credential issued by the International Center for Captive Insurance Education (ICCIE). It is widely recognized as the gold standard for professionals working in captive insurance and alternative risk transfer. The ACI equips risk managers, consultants, and captive board members with the strategic insight and technical fluency needed to design, manage, and govern captive programs across diverse industries.
The ACI program includes seven core courses and two electives, delivered through a blend of synchronous and asynchronous online instruction. Topics include domicile selection, regulatory frameworks, actuarial modeling, reinsurance layering, and governance best practices. The program is self-paced and typically completed in 6–12 months. Tuition is $4,600, payable in two installments.
ACI holders are recognized for their ability to lead captive feasibility studies, engage with regulators, and structure compliant programs that align with enterprise risk strategy. The designation complements credentials like ARM, ARM-E, and GARP SCR, and is often pursued by professionals transitioning from traditional insurance roles into strategic risk finance.
