TGPC – Tax-Exempt & Governmental Plan Consultant is a specialized credential offered by the National Tax-Deferred Savings Association (NTSA), a sister organization to ASPPA under the American Retirement Association (ARA). It is the only designation in the retirement industry focused exclusively on the 403(b) and 457(b) plan markets.
The TGPC credential equips professionals with deep expertise in plan eligibility, contributions, distributions, ERISA compliance, and alternative plan designs for nonprofit and governmental employers. It is designed for consultants, advisors, and administrators serving schools, municipalities, religious organizations, and other tax-exempt entities.
📚 Curriculum & Requirements
- Online course divided into 11 modules, including plan design, compliance, rollovers, RMDs, and ethics
- Includes downloadable reference guide: The Source for 403(b) and 457(b) Plans
- Closed-book, proctored final exam
- Recommended: 3–5 years of retirement industry experience, with at least 2 years in the 403(b)/457(b) space
- Continuing education: 40 hours every two years
