🧭 Overview
Safety and Loss Prevention Consultants are strategic advisors who help organizations identify, assess, and mitigate risks that could lead to accidents, injuries, or costly claims. They conduct on-site evaluations, analyze operational practices, and design customized safety programs to improve compliance and reduce exposure. These consultants often serve as liaisons between employers and insurance carriers, ensuring that safety protocols align with regulatory standards and underwriting expectations.
This role requires a blend of technical expertise, regulatory knowledge, and interpersonal skill to foster a proactive safety culture across diverse industries.
🛠️ Responsibilities
- Conduct field inspections and safety audits across facilities, job sites, or transportation hubs
- Evaluate existing safety programs and recommend improvements
- Analyze loss history and claims data to identify trends and prioritize interventions
- Develop and implement risk management strategies tailored to client operations
- Provide training and education on safety practices, regulatory compliance, and emergency response
- Prepare detailed reports outlining findings, recommendations, and corrective actions
- Collaborate with insurance underwriters, brokers, and internal safety teams
- Monitor adherence to OSHA, NFPA, DOT, and other relevant standards
- Stay current on emerging safety technologies and industry best practices
- Support clients in developing and maintaining Code Rule 59 compliance (where applicable)
🎓 Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, risk management, or a related field
- Certifications: CSP, ARM, OHST, CHST, or equivalent
- Experience conducting safety audits, training sessions, and regulatory reviews
- Strong analytical, communication, and report-writing skills
- Ability to travel and work independently across client sites
