Job Summary:
Hazardous Materials Managers oversee the safe handling, storage, transportation, and disposal of dangerous substances across industrial, healthcare, and government sectors. They ensure compliance with environmental regulations, mitigate risks, and maintain workplace safety through rigorous protocols and staff training.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement hazardous waste management programs
  • Train personnel on safety procedures, emergency response, and regulatory compliance
  • Conduct inspections and audits to identify risks and ensure safety standards
  • Coordinate proper disposal of toxic, flammable, or corrosive materials
  • Maintain records of hazardous materials activities and incident reports
  • Respond to emergencies involving chemical spills or exposure incidents
  • Communicate with regulatory agencies and ensure adherence to EPA, OSHA, DOT, and state laws
  • Evaluate and improve workplace practices to reduce environmental impact

 

Required Skills:

  • Deep understanding of hazardous materials regulations and safety protocols
  • Experience with waste tracking systems, spill containment, and PPE usage
  • Strong analytical and documentation skills
  • Ability to lead training sessions and manage cross-functional teams
  • Familiarity with 49 CFR, IATA, IMDG, and USDOT codes

  • HAZWOPER – Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response
