🔍 Real‑World Incident

In 2019, attackers used an AI‑generated voice to impersonate the CEO of a European energy firm.
The “CEO” urgently instructed an employee to wire €220,000 to a fraudulent account.
The voice matched the CEO’s tone, accent, and cadence so perfectly that the employee didn’t hesitate.

This was one of the first publicly documented deepfake voice frauds — and it opened the floodgates.
